Related to Filipendula and Astilbe there are a range of varieties differing mainly in the size and shape of the foliage, some having attractive spring colouring, the flowers are in plumes of whote to cream coloured flowers. Long lived perennials that require moisture retentive soil and some shade particularly in warmer climates.
