Eryngium Picos Amethyst
Very sturdy, branched stems, tinged with blue and dark red, bearing dense clusters of small blue flowers surrounded by deep blue, spiny bracts
Description
Eryngium (Sea Holly)
Family : Apiaceae
These tough tap rooted perennials make excellent border plants and can thrive in hot sunny spots in well-drained soil although they perform best with some good moisture retentive soil around their roots. The heavily sculpted foliage is in itself attractive and the tall stems carry domed umbels that are surrounded by attractive bracts which colour to shades of blue to vivid blue in mid to late summer.
